FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Trisotech announces participation in TM Forum “AI Makes SmartBPM Smarter” Catalyst (phase IV)

This multi-year Catalyst continues the exploration of how SmartBPM using a structured toolset can enhance the business value of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the telecommunication service provider context.

TM Forum Digital Transformation World, Nice, France, May 14, 2018 — Trisotech (http://trisotech.com) today presents its collaboration with world-class telecommunication companies as part of a continuing TM Forum Catalyst project, now in phase IV. The earlier phases of the Catalyst introduced the concepts of digitization to transform the traditional way of working into more agile, efficient and smarter manners. The previous phase focused on incorporating AI-based decision modeling and XAI (Explainable Artificial Intelligence) into telecommunication business processes such as provisioning, fault management, assurance and customer management. This current Catalyst phase introduces the value of reusable Decisions-as-a-Service (DaaS), as well as the transportability of the solution to address various business areas. It also demonstrates how this catalyst is utilized to address General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) conformance.

Within the Smart BPM Catalyst, Trisotech teamed up with Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) and NEC to work on cases submitted by the Catalyst champions: Orange, KDDI and Sri Lanka Telecom. KDDI has been working to build the AI system, while Trisotech provides the modeling and converts the output to executable APIs, which can be contributed back to the Forum as shareable artifacts. Trisotech advocated the usage of the Decision Model and Notation standard (DMN) as a “wrapper around AI to make it easy for staff in a telco business office to make and leverage decisions” says Ron Ambuter, Senior Vice President at Trisotech. He explains that “the idea was to take work that was done in AI and expose it in a format they could understand.”

The Catalyst used a constructivist approach into its four phases, as it transitioned from:

  • The initial deliverable of discovering and maintaining processes through process mining and automated process modeling,
  • To AI through deep neural networks to learn and select appropriate automated cures for network failures, documenting the solution as a process model,
  • To layering in the concept of Explainable AI thereby documenting AI beyond the “black box” environment,
  • To enhancing solutions orchestration and adding Decision Management automation, it continues to move forward with production ready solutions.

Ambuter adds that the SmartBPM Catalyst participants would be willing to conduct three-month proofs of concept with additional telecommunication companies and show their operations teams how to use the AI support system to address their specific use cases.

The current phase of the SmartBPM Makes AI Smarter Catalyst project has been presented this morning at TM Forum Digital Transformation World 2018 at the Nice Acropolis Convention Centre. Delegate members of the catalyst are available for more information on the show floor until Wednesday, May 16th.
